Pre Tan Advice
ALL PRE TAN ADVICE IS BASED ON THE EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE FROM OUR SUPPLIER MUSCLE TAN UK/EU IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO READ THE BELOW
Exfoliation:
Start exfoliating your skin at least two weeks before your competition. Use exfoliating mitts and a simple shower gel (oil-free).
Exfoliate gently three times a week to remove dead skin cells and create a smooth base for the tan. Over-exfoliating can dry out your skin or make it oily, which may affect the tan.
Don’t forget your face! Use gentle exfoliators like Vitamin C face scrubs from trusted brands like The Body Shop or Clarins, no more than 2–3 times a week.
Moisturising:
Moisturise daily to keep your skin hydrated, but stop applying moisturizers 24 hours before your tan
Shaving/Waxing:
Shave at least 12 hours before your tan. If it’s your first time shaving, practice a few times beforehand to allow your skin to adjust Waxing should be done a week prior to avoid irritation or spots.
Perfumes, Deodorants, and Oils:
On the day of your tan, ensure your skin is free of makeup, perfume, deodorant, or oils to prevent patchiness or discoloration.
Tanning Day
Wear loose, dark clothing to your tanning appointment. Avoid red garments, as they can interact with the tan and cause a green tint.
Do not shower off the tan until the time recommended by your tanner. Leaving it on longer can dry out your skin and shorten the tan’s lifespan.
Avoid liquids coming into contact with your skin, such as water or toothpaste, as they can strip the tan. Use a straw for drinking and be cautious in the restroom.
Refrain from using perfumes or sunbeds before or after your tan. Sunbeds can dry out your skin and lead to water retention, affecting your tan and physique.
Aftercare for Your Photoshoot Tan
Proper aftercare ensures your tan remains stunning and lasts 7–10 days.
When rinsing off after the competition, use lukewarm water and minimal soap ("bits and pits" only).Avoid products containing oils, shea butter, or heavy perfumes, such as Lynx, as they dry out the skin and ruin the tan.
To remove your tan gently, soak in a warm bath with baby oil or use a jacuzzi, then exfoliate lightly over a few days.
Begin exfoliating 3–4 days after the competition to maintain even skin tone.
